Questions about the checker

Is my certificate stored?

No. The file is read in memory on our server and discarded when the answer is sent. We do not save the file, its name or its text, and we do not log them. The only thing kept is a request counter per connection, in memory, for the rate limits.

What does the checker read?

Text-based PDFs up to 2 MB, from the first five pages: expiry dates, the each-occurrence coverage amount, the line of business, the policy number, the certificate holder name, and whether additional insured, waiver of subrogation and primary and non-contributory wording appears.

How accurate is it?

The rules cover known layouts, not every certificate. Check each suggested value against the document before you submit.

Why can't it read my scan?

A scanned PDF has no text layer for the reader to use, so the checker says so instead of guessing. Scan reading is a feature of the full product.

More detail on what the reader suggests is in the certificate auto-read help article.
